Congratulations to the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) member award winners. These awards were presented at ARN's 2023 Rehabilitation Nursing Conference this August in Providence, Rhode Island.
2023 Mary Ann Mikulic Scholarship Winner: Taylor Stallworth, MSN RN
The Mary Ann Mikulic Scholarship covers one full hybrid registration fee for a first-time attendee to ARN's Rehabilitation Nursing Conference. Those who applied for the scholarship this year were able to attend the conference both in-person in Providence, Rhode Island, and online, for free, to earn continuing education credits and connect with their rehab nursing community.
Congratulations to this year's winner, Taylor Stallworth, MSN RN!
This being your first ARN Rehabilitation Nursing Conference, how did it go?
My first conference experience was nothing short of amazing! I enjoyed the informative sessions and the speakers. Most importantly, I appreciated the ability to meet and talk with various rehab nurses across the country.
During my time at the conference, I was lucky to make friends with two other rehab nurses from Florida and California who were so welcoming and kind. Besides having in common being rehab nurses, we had various other interests in common. I had the most fun attending the conference and exploring Rhode Island together. We ended up getting matching sweaters and exchanged numbers so we can continue to keep in contact.
I am forever grateful for ARN for providing me with this scholarship to attend the conference and I look forward to attending the 2024 conference in Texas!
What are you bringing back to your hospital that you learned?
I am chair of my shared governance on my inpatient rehab unit and I have been trying to increase Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) certification on the unit. Therefore, I made sure to find out the most up-to-date information on study materials for the CRRN exam.
I was able to provide the nurses on my unit with the new study material for the exam as well as buy the new study material for my upcoming certification exam in December. I am looking forward to finally becoming certified in rehab nursing!
If you could encourage anyone to attend the conference, what would you say?
If I could encourage anyone to attend the conference I would say go for it! You will leave the conference with a new appreciation of rehab nursing and many new friends.
