PCORI Reauthorization Bill Introduced
H.R. 3030, the "Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Extension Act of 2019" was introduced into the House last week by Reps. Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA). This bill would reauthorize Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) for another 10 years.
PCORI is important because it helps to fund studies that determine the effectiveness of different medications, treatments, and delivery systems, giving patients and caregivers the information they need to make tough decisions. PCORI has funded nearly 600 research projects since its inception, including 57 studies on multiple chronic conditions, 6 studies on shared decision making, and 25 transitional care projects.
