ARN Recognizes Kathy Clark, MSN RN CRRN FARN, and Rosemarie King, PhD RN, as ARN’s Distinguished Service Award Winners

The ARN Board of Directors selected Kathy Clark, MSN RN CRRN FARN, and Rosemarie King, PhD RN, as the 2020 recipients of Distinguished Service Awards. This award acknowledges their service and contribution to rehabilitation nursing and to the organization as a whole. This award also recognizes their leadership and commitment to the field through their active participation in ARN events and activities.

Outstanding contribution to rehabilitation nursing and to the organization 

Even though both Kathy and Rosemarie have been members of ARN for almost four decades, their continued service to rehabilitation nursing and to the organization is truly remarkable. Kathy has been a member of ARN since 1989 and has been offering her time, extensive expertise, and proved herself a valuable resource to empower her fellow nurses and community. One of Kathy's nominators stated, "Kathy's record of service for ARN and in rehab nursing is exemplary. She is committed to promoting rehabilitation nursing and advancing the specialty practice of rehabilitation nursing."

Dr. King has been a member of ARN since 1981 and has recently retired. However, her professional and personal track record reflects her contribution to rehabilitation nursing and nursing research. Dr. King served on the RNJ Editorial Board from 2008-2013 and RNF Research Fund Committee in 2008, 2011, and 2016.

Demonstrated leadership in all ARN activities and events 

Great leaders do not tell you what to do — they show you how it's done. Both Kathy and Dr. King have been exemplary models of true leadership.

Kathy served as the Secretary & Treasurer of ARN from 2015–2018. She served as a Director on the Board from 2006–2008 and 2010–2013. Kathy is also currently the Director of Quality, Performance Improvement, and Compliance at Roosevelt Rehabilitation & Specialty Hospitals.

Dr. King demonstrated leadership through her mentorship, authorship of articles, and presentation at the ARN annual conference over the years of both papers and posters. One of Rosemarie's nominators said, "Dr. King has always been willing to share her knowledge with rehabilitation nurses through her presentations and publications. She has been an exceptional mentor to many past and current ARN nurse leaders. Her energy and passion for the field of rehabilitation nursing is awe inspiring."

For all the years of outstanding service and commitment, ARN would like to extend its congratulations to Kathy Clark, MSN, RN, CRRN, FARN and Rosemarie King, PhD RN for being the 2020 recipients of the Distinguished Service Award.
