Clinical Continence Care Tools for the Entire Care Team
ARN member Christine Cave, DNP NP-C CRRN EP-C, and the Continence Care Task Force developed much-needed bowel and bladder management tools for the entire disciplinary team. The interactive booklet, Clinical Tools for Continence Care: An Evidence-Based Approach, and posters illustrate 6 clinical algorithms to help your team apply best practices and problem-solve the continence needs of all of your patients.
Each tool has been designed to educate and train team members to apply best practices to problem-solve continence needs on a daily basis. When used, you will institute a higher-quality care standard for nurses who implement strategies to establish continence.
The 21-page spiral-bound and laminated booklet contains a Financial Impact Tool to support nurse managers and administrators, a Frequency Volume Chart to document continence care over a 24-hour period, and six algorithms to assess the most common continence care challenges.
The algorithms have been recreated as a set of 11" x 17" posters for the entire team to utilize. Each tool is available for purchase in the store.
Algorithm 1—General Assessment of Bladder
Algorithm 2—General Assessment of Bowel Function
Algorithm 3—Urinary Incontinence
